SAP Manufacturing & IT Manager
Programme & PM Permanent Melbourne Posted Today
Melbourne | Australia & New Zealand remit | Global manufacturing business
SAP manufacturing expertise? Ready to lead something bigger?
We're partnering with a global manufacturing business looking for someone who understands SAP, knows how manufacturing really works and can turn complex operational problems into practical solutions.
The business has invested in SAP. The opportunity now is to make it work harder for the people who rely on it.
That means improving production planning, strengthening master data, developing local SAP capability and connecting the needs of manufacturing operations with the global technology organisation.
It's a role with genuine visibility, influence and the opportunity to make a measurable difference.
And you don't necessarily need to be an established IT Manager to be considered.
If you've built your career around SAP manufacturing, progressed into solution or applications leadership and are ready to take on broader responsibility, we'd be interested in speaking with you.
The opportunity
You'll lead a small regional IS/IT team supporting operations across Australia and New Zealand.
Working closely with local business leadership and the global IT organisation in France, you'll help shape and execute a practical technology improvement roadmap.
Your initial focus will be on understanding the current environment, building relationships and identifying where SAP, processes and people need to work better together.
From there, you'll drive meaningful improvements across production planning, supply chain, master data, user capability and the wider applications environment.
You'll also have responsibility for broader regional IT services, working with specialist teams on infrastructure, cybersecurity, governance and technology delivery.
This isn't about producing endless strategy presentations.
It's about understanding the problems, agreeing what matters and getting things done.
What you'll be doing
First and foremost, you understand SAP in a manufacturing environment.
You know how production planning, materials, inventory and master data connect. You understand why poor system adoption or inaccurate data can cause major operational problems.
You might have started your career as an SAP PP, MM or manufacturing functional consultant.
Perhaps you've moved into SAP solution leadership, enterprise applications, ERP management or a broader IT role.
Or you may already be leading technology within a manufacturing business.
We're open to different career paths, provided you bring genuine SAP manufacturing expertise and the ability to lead business improvements.
You'll also bring:
You don't need to have spent years managing a large IT department.
You don't need to be the person who personally configures every SAP module.
And you don't need to have followed a traditional IT management career path.
What matters is your understanding of SAP manufacturing, your ability to lead people and your track record of turning operational challenges into business improvements.
Why this role?
Because you'll have the opportunity to make a genuine impact. This is not a BAU role. It's an inhouse Transformational make an impact role.
You'll be joining at a point where the business recognises the need for change and wants someone capable of helping drive it.
You'll have access to senior decision-makers, support from a global technology organisation and the opportunity to shape how SAP supports manufacturing across the region.
You'll also receive training in the organisation's global SAP environment, including engagement with colleagues in Europe
If you enjoy fixing what isn't working, building capability and seeing the results of your efforts on the factory floor, this could be exactly the challenge you're looking for.
